Ch 111: Not a clue

“Hello,” Selene said calmly before sitting across from Celeste.

“Hello, Selene. Good to see you.” Celeste sat with both hands on the table, admiring the woman her daughter had grown to become. As she scrutinized her, she suddenly noticed that there was no ring on her finger, but a diamond necklace hung loosely on her neck.

Celeste's smile was so bright that Selene felt uncomfortable under her gaze. She knew what her mother was looking at but didn’t know any conversation she could start about her ring.

“Nice ring you have there,” Celeste remarked in admiration. She was happy that her daughter’s husband put a lot of thought into picking her ring.

“Thank you.” Selene finally had a smile on her face when she responded.

Selene unconsciously looked behind Celeste, only to find Tara walking toward them. She was so elated that Selene felt there was something different about her; Tara never liked Celeste and didn’t attempt to hide it. So, for her to walk towards them with such enthusiasm
