Alpha Marcus reached for her cheeks, gently tucking her hair behind her ears as he whispered, “Tell me why I won’t love you.” He sighed deeply, and she returned his gaze with a soft smile.

“I don’t want to stress you; you should be resting after training,” he said, concern evident in his voice.

She clicked her tongue and shook her head slightly. “I already had my rest; I’m here for you,” she replied softly, her eyes locked onto his as she held his hand on her cheek.

“What does it feel like?” she whispered; her voice barely audible.

“Pain… excruciating pain,” he admitted, his eyes reflecting the torment he felt.

She squinted at him, a look of realization crossing her face. “You’re the guy from my dreams, aren’t you?”

He sighed and nodded reluctantly. “Hate to admit it, but yeah.”

“Oh, goodness… I can understand how you feel,” she said, her empathy clear.

“You should stop worrying yourself,” he replied, his fingers trailing gently across her cheeks.
