Chapter sixty eight

Claire and Alexander walked hand in hand down the dimly lit hallway, their pace leisurely as they took in the grandeur of the house.

The air was thick with the scent of roses, and the soft glow of candlelight flickered on the walls.

"Alexander," Claire began hesitantly, her voice barely above a whisper. "We need to talk to Susan. She needs to know what happened tonight."

Alexander paused, his grip tightening around her hand. "Claire, I understand that you want to tell her, but let's wait until tomorrow. Tonight is a night for celebration. What will a day's difference cause?"

Claire's heart sank at Alexander's response. She had hoped that he would agree to tell Susan, but now she realized that he was right.

It was their night, and they deserved to revel in their love for a little while longer.

"I suppose you're right," she said, a tinge of disappointment in her voice. "But we can't put it off for too long. You know how dangerous Isabelle can be."
