Chapter Nineteen

Erin Lockheart's POV

I woke up to the familiar smell of sweat and blood but a completely unfamiliar place. The walls were a deep shade of blue and the luxurious tapestries surrounded the room. The bed I was lying in was warm and soft that it was pulling me back to sleep.

"Glad to see you're comfortable in my bed." Kai snickered as he leaned against the door frame. I was about to stand up but I realized that I wasn't strong enough yet. So he stated, "Don't push yourself. After such grave injuries, I was expecting you'd wake up after at least a week."

Injuries. Ah right. That happened. I looked over my right arm that was completely covered in bandages and remembered how Cadmus violently attacked me and killed Tristan. The thought of it still sends shiver down my spine.

"Why did you take me in?" I asked.

"You asked me to save you." Kai walked towards me and continued, "Besides I'm just taking back what's mine."

"I'm not some property you can call yours."

"Then why come here?"
