Chapter Sixteen

Erin Lockheart's POV

I had managed to momentarily slip past the watchful guards outside Cadmus' quarters. I needed this fresh air. Just to think that in the few moments of freedom that I had, I was about to give it away for Cadmus and to hear him say those cold things, it was... like a dagger into my heart.

It was more than a wake up call. We would never be together because of who he is and who I am. There was no other way around it.

But I wasn't going to sulk around all day. I had promised Charlotte that I would live. I can't die again. Especially not for our kind, who had treated me like trash. I had a plan. I knew how to survive this but in order to do so, I had to make a deal with a devil named Kai Griffin.

My vision before was wrong. The ball wasn't in two months time. It was tomorrow. I don't have much time.

I had to do it at the busiest time where everyone would be distracted- the grand ball where Cadmus would choose his mate and that would be Luna. It was the unavoidable truth
