JAYDEN’S P.O.V. “Why are we doomed?” I asked Nash seriously. His mother had retreated too. “Did you see how polite he was?” Myra asked Nash. “Have you ever seen your dad, the alpha, so polite ever?” “Once,” Nash nodded. “When he was greeting that ruling clan of South India.” “And remember what your dad did later to the ruling clan of South India?” Myra asked, feeling scared now. “He slashed his throat in front of all others,” and Nash quivered. “And you believe he would do the same to me?” I demanded with raised eyebrows. “Hope not,” Myra sighed. “But you know, alphas in general, have unpredictable tendencies,” she added. And she was not wrong. Even my dad was like this. Incredibly unpredictable and only mom could control him. But here it seems even Nash’s mom is unable to control his dad. “So, what do you want me to do?” I asked seriously. “Hide out in fear he would slash out my throat too?” “Nah!” Nash shook his head. “He won’t dare risk war with your dad and gr
JAYDEN’S P.O.V. It seemed our roles were reversed now. Nash stayed busy throughout the day and I, well, I stayed glued to Myra and Devi. Myra lived in a faraway city, the name of which I forgot the moment she told me, and had come down to keep me company for a few days. “I had a hunch that you would need help,” she had grinned when she had moved in one of the guest rooms close to mine. “I thought only alpha males and females lived on this floor,” I had asked Devi when Myra had walked into her room. “Oh, Myra is alpha female, just one level down to me… her father run entire North region of India…” Devi whispered back. “And that’s why your mother loves her?” I demanded with raised eyebrows. “You have no idea. For years mom asked Nash to choose Myra, but they were friends, best friends, and that’s it,” Devi finished. So now, during the morning, I went for runs… I spent my day chatting and gossiping about people I barely knew. I spent evenings in gym – alone, and nights wrapp
JAYDEN’S P.O.V. The next day, two girls came – better than one, hey!… but they both looked skeptical. I met them in the gym and they looked scared. I could tell that they did not wish to be there. “Are you here because Avinash asked you to be here?” I demanded. They both nodded urgently. “You do not want to learn to fight?” I asked. And they both stared at me as if I have grown a pair of horns. “Why don’t we try something today, and if you don’t wish to continue, you are not forced to come in tomorrow, deal?” I offered. And they both nodded. And we started. I started to teach them basic, very basic tactics and I could tell they were weak, incredibly weak girls. One of them twisted her wrist just while attempting to hit me. And another fell on all her ass super scared when I charged – well pretended to charge towards her. By the end of the hour I could tell they won’t come back. And I ended my day rather disappointed. But I was surprised the next day. They had come
JAYDEN’S P.O.V. “But why are you going to Australia?” Nash asked Jared as we all sat down for lunch. Nash had also joined us. When I had informed him that Jared was here, he was back instantly. “Work,” Jared shrugged in such a secretive manner that Nash’s brows furrowed. “Okay, fine,” Jared grunted. “I am going for the summit.” “I will also go for the summit, but it is not for another four days,” Nash spoke. Jared pouted… “Spill it,” I spoke as I jabbed my knife in his direction. “There are a few issues going on in the Australian clan. The alpha male there, Martin, is our distant cousin and my good friend, and he has asked for some support. So, dad sent me ahead to see if our clan can help out in some way,” Jared sighed. “What kind of trouble!?” I demanded. “Martin believes that the summit is going to be targeted,” Jared grunted. And my jaw dropped. I looked between Jared and Nash and spoke rather loudly and angrily, “NO!” Both looked at me in shocked surprise.
JAYDEN’S P.O.V. That night, once Jared had left for Australia and Nash and I were alone, I insisted that Nash took extra security with him. “I will be fine,” Nash sighed as he wrapped himself around me. “But –” I started but he placed his lips firmly on mine and groaned. “Can I first have you?” he demanded as he pushed his hand in my shirt. And I gave in. How could I not? And the topic subsided from the conversation that night. But it seemed that his parents, or one of them, or someone close to them were listening in when we were talking to Jared during lunch time. So next morning, they called us for breakfast. Post the fiasco on my first morning here, Nash and I have been having breakfast in our balcony, in private! He insisted on it because he just did not want his parents to spoil my mood right in the morning. But today, they called us. “We made your favorites,” his dad spoke as he pointed at a couple of breakfast snacks on the table. I wanted to tell them that pan
JAYDEN’S P.O.V. I know I should not have said that. I know I should not have reacted like this. I know should not have risen to their bait, but how dare they have such presumptions. How dare they dismiss my parents love and affection with their non sense. I know it is very common for parents their age to ignore their children, that they love them but don’t show it. But it does not give them a right to judge parents who do both – love their children and show it too! Anyway, I didn’t interact with Nash’s parents any more. His father anyway always stayed in his office, coming out at meal times and we never ate with him. Learnt our lesson the hard way twice already! And as for his mother, who the hell cared where she spent her day! In an ideal world, I should learn about the clan from her, learn about her duties so that I can master them when I grow older and assume the role myself, but I would not. I have my own mother, the perfect alpha queen, to learn from. And when time will come, I
JAYDEN’S P.O.V. Mom’s words kept on echoing in my head for two whole days… and I still could not comprehend what to do about them. I really did not wish Nash to not respect his parents… whatever they maybe, they were his parents! Nash was due to return the next day, and I was all excited too. I have been missing him terribly. And as he had been so damn busy in Australian summit that we hardly had time to talk, and not to mention the time difference. And oh, the summit was perfectly safe and all the rumours about danger were just that, rumours. Anyway, if he were busy, I cannot believe he could be busier than I was. When I had arrived, mom and dad had announced that I would now be moving to India permanently to be with Nash. Which was expected, duh! And many people had already assumed that I had moved because I had not come back for whole forty days… But still, there were a lot of people in our house, which was in truth a town in itself, and my three days here were spent meeting an
JAYDEN’S P.O.V. I landed twelve hours later and found only two cars waiting for me… Okay, so everyone must be searching for Devi and Myra then. When I arrived home, I was met with an eerie silence. I walked up and found Nash’s mother in a devastated state and Nash’s father was nowhere to be seen. “Where is the alpha?” I asked Nash’s mother. She just shook her head and placed her head on the table, crying. A few women approached her and started to console her again. “I am here to help, where is the alpha?” I demanded. But she did not reply. Another woman, whom I suspected, but was never introduced to, as beta female said, “He is away.” “Where?” I demanded. “Back to that bar,” Nash’s mother sobbed harshly. Damn it! I ran outside, and changed into my fighting gear. But considering my fighting gear was nothing but fitting leggings and very tight shirt, so no one can grab hold of these clothes to put me down, I put on a loose t-shirt over it. I also tied my hair in a v
