Mildred was standing in the living room looking unhappy. It was the first time she would be looking this way in front of the vampire hybrids as Lucas stepped outside his bedroom before shutting the door.
He looked at her and could see the pain in her eyes and hurt. He hadn't planned for things to turn out this way, especially after they got along well yesterday.
"I didn't mean for things to pan out like this", he said to her a few feet away.
"When were you going to tell me you had a vampire as part of your family, I thought only the three of you were family?", she asked, tears starting to form in her eyes.
