Time seemed so slow to Caraline at the moment. She just sat pensively on the sofa without doing anything. She just stared lazily at the books on the table, then let out a long breath. It was still eight o'clock in the evening, but the silence in this room was boring her.

Caraline made her way to the balcony. The courtyard was bustling with guards running to the interrogation room. The three criminals were still in the room. She had heard that the men had kept their mouths shut when questioned by Stevan's men despite having been given a few lessons. However, they were surprisingly forthcoming with information from this morning.

Caraline leaned her back against the balcony railing. As she looked over to the lakeside, she saw Deric driving from the direction where he usually exercised. Since their conversation this afternoon, she hadn't seen Deric at all, let alone spoken to each other. There was still a sense of hurt when remembering that man's selfishness.
