Chapter 22

Alexia.

Michael and I entered an expensive cafe in the middle of the city. He was in grey shorts, a black long sleeved shirt and his hair was neatly gelled back. I wore a white dress with a red rose floral pattern, my waves were in a loose ponytail and sunglasses were propped at the top of my head.

It was a really warm summer afternoon and a nice day for a picnic but Michael's mood was intimidating even me. In all honesty, I was excited to see his mother but I was also nervous of what she'd say about my relationship with him. Although he said that I shouldn't mind what she said, she was his mom so her opinion was important, right?

I looked at Michael. He was frowning, a crease in between his brows. Even during the one hour drive here, he was oddly quiet and looked like he was deep in thought. I didn't know what to say and honestly, I didn't want to disturb whatever was going on in his head.

"She's over there," he said as he put an arm around my waist.
