Evelyn's pov

I watched him as he stretched his hand in front of the table and kept his eyes on me at the same time then with an almost nonchalant shrug he told me that I should know more about that than him since the person was my friend after all. I drew back a little while my fingers were being placed on the table and I fiddled with them nervously.

As I did so I admitted to him that I had no idea who this person could possibly be so far everybody that I had reached out to for assistance during this tough time would tell me that they were also going through a similarly rough patch, every single one of them. If there was anything that this troubled time had taught me to understand, it was that people were quick to desert you when they saw that they might not benefit from being on your side.
