Chapter 21: Jack's Jazz... Wrong Reason; Right One

Jack suddenly opened his eyes. He stayed motionless wondering what wake him. He slowly looked through his bedroom but nothing seemed out of the ordinary. He leaned back on his pillow about to close his eyes he noticed someone carefully turning the doorknob. Very slowly and carefully he moved into a sitting position just watching that door. It didn’t seem to move any further.

He had the sense someone was standing just outside. Slowly getting out of the bed, he quickly moved to the door. Just as he was about to reach for it, the person on the other side grabbed the door pulling it closed.

“What the hell?” he grabbed the doorknob pulling the door opened.

He saw someone running down the hall but halted at the top of the stairs waiting for him.

“Who are you?”

Jack moved forward angry that his home apparently wasn’t safe.

“Stop right there,” he ordered.

The person quickly rushed down the stairs running for the front door. He opened it disappearing into the darkness.
