I blinked, trying to process his words but I couldn't make sense of it. My heartbeat escalated, "I don't understand." This was his chance to laugh and play it off and say it was nothing but a joke but he wore that smile again, the one where you coild tell that there was definitely something wrong.

"I have some stupid stuff called emphysma, don't worry I'm not dying anytime soon." He chuckled, "we will grow old and gray together." He held my hands to assure me, "i just want someone who will be a grandmother to Bianca's children for me. Come on, don't look so worried, you might have gotten bored of me before we are that old." I knew he was trying to make me feel better but it wasn't doing anything to make me feel better.

"What's that mean?" I referred to the condition he had said.

"It's a lung disease that doesn't go away." He shrugged.

"And what are you doing to treat it?"

"Health care isn't free in America, babe."
