[Seraphine's POV]

A warm drop of water fell amidst the pool of fresh blood that soaked my feet.

Not dew, not rainwater. But my tears. I was so shocked, scared, anxious, angry, frustrated to the point where I couldn't control my emotions anymore.

/thud!/

Finally, my legs gave in for the first time. Even when I was almost killed by the Alphas who intended to capture me, my body never surrendered even for a moment.

But the innocent body of Jesse, split in two before me, was a different case.

Why? 'Because Jesse has nothing to do with this! And he's innocent! Why should he be the one to suffer here!'
