Margot had long left the bustling city, and there was no way Chester could bring her back within an hour.

In fact, he couldn't accomplish the task even if he had a night. Curtis sat on the living room sofa. He gripped his phone tightly, radiating a formidable aura with veins bulging at his forehead.

Doris stood nearby, not daring to make a sound.

After a while, the phone rang. Curtis, thinking it was his assistant, answered it reflexively. To his surprise, it was Tammy's voice on the other end. "Curt, why haven't you come back yet tonight?"

Still consumed by anger and preoccupied with Margot, Curtis impatiently responded, "I have something to attend to today and can't make it."

Tammy, wanting to voice her complaints, began, "But..."

"Tammy, I'll repay what I owe you, but if you keep pushing me, don't blame me for changing my attitude toward you," he said sternly as he cut her off abruptly.

His mind was in turmoil, dominated by thoughts of Margot.
