Chapter 2: Gael

“Tell the driver to take Miss Ellis to where she wants to go,” Selena told the butler.

He nodded respectfully and immediately fulfilled Selena’s request.

“My assistant, Layla, will contact you to discuss the preparation of my plan. I hope that in a one-month period, Miss Ellis will be ready to help us prepare for the plan at any time.” Selena told Calantha.

Calantha understood. Selena wanted her to quit her job at the café and spend all her time preparing for the wedding.

“I understand,” Calantha replied.

After Calantha left, Selena immediately went to the reading room, where her lover, John, was.

Selena embraced John, giving him loving kisses.

“Is everything going well?” John asked.

“Above all great, Calantha is more convincing than I thought. Because she really needs the money,” Selena replied, inhaling the scent of his body. “You know, my John, Calantha is very interesting and wise. Asher will hardly take advantage of her.”

“I don’t want to hear about Calantha, Selena, I want to hear about you,” John pulled Selena into his lap and they gave each other a big kiss.

Selena’s driver took Calantha to the hospital where Gael was being treated.

In a few days, he’ll be moving to a better hospital. He would doubt for sure how she’s going to pay the huge toll.

Calantha, of course, has a way of solving this problem.

Just as Calantha had predicted, Gael was constantly questioning her about how Calantha could afford the huge amount of hospital fees.

“Gael, I’ve been tired of working all day,” Calantha said, and she showed tired.

“But…,” Gael wanted to ask, but he stopped.

But he’s still angry because Calantha won’t tell you the truth. Gael decided he would not communicate with Calantha until he was relieved.

Calantha looked at Gael. He was lying on the bed and tucked in like a small snow-covered hill. She sighed.

Except for shirking whenever Gael talked about the hospital bills. Calantha had no choice but to be old enough to be aware of so many issues, anyway.

Calantha was reading and watching Gael for a while when she felt bored. Calantha turned on the television to explain, and suddenly she saw Asher Pittman’s speech.

Asher is really handsome with amber eyes and slicked-back brown hair. Asher could attract the gaze of every girl at the first meeting.

But Calantha couldn’t focus her attention on the beauty of Asher. She thought of what would happen, if Asher found out she wasn’t Selena on her wedding day.

What would he do to her?

Especially since Calantha didn’t even know about Asher’s personality.

Calantha turned off the television, and tried not to think of Asher.

Asher didn't seem to want to leave her. He appeared in her dream that night.

In Calantha’s dream, Asher stood in the distance and looked at her with an angry expression. Calantha tried to run away, but as she turned her head to look at Asher, the distance between them was still the same. It was as if Asher was a ghost and chased after her as she ran and didn’t notice her back.

Calantha sat up, panting. It was dawn. The sunshine was so feeble that it wasn’t enough to banish the darkness in the room.

“Damn, I’m so worried,” Calantha said.

“What are you worried about?” Gael asked. “Did you have a nightmare?”

Calantha almost screamed in a jolt, but she calmed down shortly after.

“You’re up early, Gael. Get some more sleep. We’re going to help you transferred to another hospital today.” Calantha reminded.

“Do you have to work a lot these days?” Gael asked.

“I will not work as hard as I used to. I’m going to take some extra work off.” Calantha said.

“So, what are you going to do?”

Calantha stared at Gael for a few seconds, causing Gael to be jumpy.

“I’m married to a billionaire.” Calantha winked at Gael and gave him an unimaginable answer.

“What, you...” Gael wanted to ask more, but Calantha went out of the sickroom.

As she walked out of Gael’s sick room, Calantha felt freezing despite the rays of sunshine reminding her that the weather was nice and warm today.

At this moment, Calantha realized that she had been sweating when she was dreaming of Asher.

“Holy shit!”

They quickly transferred Gael to a state-of-the-art private hospital that afternoon.

Calantha checked Gael’s medical contract. At this point, she really believed the transaction between her and Selena wasn’t a joke.

“Ting…” The message buzzer rang, which was a message from Layla, Selena’s assistant.

Calantha rushed into the WC to read the message.

Layla informed Calantha that tomorrow Calantha would have to go to Lady Selena’s mansion to prepare for her plan.

“Fine, I have to learn how to leave Gael. Even though it’s necessary, I still feel restless. Even though I’m so used to seeing Gael every day for 21 years.” Calantha thought, she’s a little upset.

Calantha washed her face with cold water to keep her awake and so that no one would find out she was crying.

People who don’t have money have to learn to choose.

“Mr. Pittman, this is your periodic inspection.”

When Calantha walked through the hallway, she overheard.

Pittman…?

Calantha curiously looked out over the hospital hallway stealthily.

She saw a back view of a rugged adult man whose hair was brown. He was wearing a black suit; he seemed to smoke. On his left is a man in a black suit who is bowing to him with a respectful attitude.

“Is that person Asher Pittman? Isn’t he in Los Angeles, right?” Calantha thought.

Only this morning, Layla had informed her that Asher Pittman was on a business trip to Los Angeles.

“You get the car ready, I want to get back to Rosé right away.” Asher Pittman said.

Calantha hurried away from there to argue in doubt.

His voice is indeed like Asher Pittman, the voice is low and serious…

If he was Asher Pittman, why did he go to the hospital?

Periodic inspection…? What was wrong with him?

Was the information Asher is working in Los Angeles real or fake?

Calantha had too many questions, but she tried not to think about them. Because finding the answers to those questions does not help her current life.

Curiosity killed the cat.

Asher returned to Rosé when it was late at night. The butler had waited for him beforehand. Asher gives the butler his periodic inspection results. The housekeeper, Mr. Hart, read it carefully.

“Your condition has improved, but you still need to maintain regular medication and treatment.” The butler reminded him.

“I got it.” Asher returned grudgingly.

Rosé was the private mansion of Asher, which was full of roses. Asher inhaled the scent of roses and gradually calmed down.

He missed Selena.

“A month from now, this mansion will welcome its true owner,” Asher said. He was content with what he would get in the future.
