Chapter 139

Mel’s POV

"Jaxon?" I murmur, reaching for him. I sit up when I only feel the cool, cotton sheets. His scent is so faint, it's like he must've left the second I fell asleep.

But that couldn't be right. Unless he was so angry with me, he refused to sleep with me last night. Did he go back to his own room?

I put on a T-shirt and jeans and go looking for him. To my relief, he isn't in there either. I follow his scent downstairs to his office where the door is closed. I considered knocking, but decide against it.

After I spent yesterday distracting him, he must've stayed up all night catching up on his paperwork. I also can't believe he called my bluff last night and he didn't force me to tell him.
