Ameer follows me to the back of the building again where the Alpha Patrol remains standing. He keeps his distance, his gaze locked on the people who put his Luna in danger.

I really want him to stay, but with the information I learned last night, I know Ayla won't talk until we're alone.

"Ameer, please meet them at the hospital. Notify me the second she wakes up," I say without looking his way.

You sure you don't need backup? he asks telepathically.

I don't plan to start a war with them.

At least not today.

I turn around to nod at him.

Yeah, I'll be fine. Now go watch over your Luna.

He looks conflicted but bares his neck. In an instant, he is gone and all that remains is his masculine scent.
