Mel’s POV

Today is a day I've been dreading; my father's funeral and the day Jaxon announces that I'm his Luna.

Instead of beginning our last week of training, the recruits join the rest of the pack to "honor" my father. Just like with my mother's funeral, we gather near the river where his body lies in a wooden coffin. I requested that it be closed claiming it was because he was killed in such a horrific way, but in actuality, it's just so I don't ever have to see his face again. My old wounds will be ripped open enough today.

I proudly display Jaxon's mark with my black, off-shoulder dress and I even notice a few wolves peering at it, but there's nothing to be shocked about. If they didn't know before, my scent is now permanently mixed with his and his with mine.

Yesterday, I finally told Moon about Dad and she didn't want to come, so Elinda stayed home with her and Ava. I wish I was with them. Anywhere would be better than here.
