Chapter 21

XURDEN didn’t plan to go out, but he found himself on top of the closest building to where Yric was waiting. He could see clearly how Yric stood in the corner. Yric looked uneasy with his fingers fidgeting to his side. He even glanced from left to right to check on something. No one could blame the younger guy. The neighborhood where they were wasn’t a safe place at all, even though Xurden lives there. There were few sightings of demons but humans were dangerous also that could kill you anytime. It was easier for crime to happen there because the residents were rich. He couldn’t understand why Yric had to walk a couple of blocks just to pick up the delivery. He thought Yric was up to something, which was the main reason he followed him without revealing himself. Yric hugged himself as the cold numbed his skin.

“How long is he going to wait?” Xurden complained to himself. “In what store he ordered that it took so long to deliver?”
