Chapter 22

THE SKY outside had cleared as if last night there were no disturbances in the weather. It was also blue, but an air of melancholy was there dancing with the wind carrying thin clouds. Early morning sunlight slipped through the glass window, hitting on the black table of the office where Xurden sat quietly reading a book. He flipped a page after he reached the end of a chapter. His white shirt seemed to glow in the early light.

A knock on the door didn’t stop him, his attention still glued to the book. The door opened after the knock and Sebastian peeked through the door without letting a foot in. Sebastian wore a colorful shirt that made his face a year younger.

“What is it, boss?” Sebastian said, holding the doorknob. “Do you need anything?”

“Check on him if he’s still alive. If he is, wake him up and tell him to come here. He’s been sleeping since the other night.”

“Who?” Confusion wrote on Sebastian’s face.
