If only I Knew

Mind

Honey's POV.

He pocketed his hands and pressed his lips. "Sometimes, I do feel sorry for him."

"So what happened to him?"

He smiled and I flushed. "It's a long story. I might tell you some other time."

The attendant behind the counter smiled and slightly waved at me. "Have a nice day, ma'am."

I smiled at her and left the shoe store. I stopped before the road and brought out my Samsung. I wanted to call an uber.

"You brought your car?" The man, my savior, asked.

I turned to him and shook my head. "No, I want to order for an uber."

He looked ahead of him and pointed at a shiny black Bugatti La Voiture Noire which was parked at the garage of the shoe store. "That's my car over there. If you don't mind, I can give you a ride."

My jaw dropped as I stared at the car. It was one of the most expensive cars in the world! This man must be fifthly rich if he owned that car.

"...you don't mind, do you?”

"What?" I asked.

I was so mesmerized with the beauty of the car that I didn't hear what he said.

He frowned and pocketed his hands. He must really hate repeating himself. "I asked if you want a ride."

I wondered why he was in a bad mood. Did I say something wrong?

"No, don't bother. I'm okay." I didn't want to disturb him any more so I turned down his offer and looked at my phone to order a ride.

He looked displeased with my refusal, but he nodded and turned to leave. "Alright, take care of yourself."

I smiled. "Thank you."

I looked at him and watched him walk toward his car. Gosh, I still can't wrap it into my tiny head that that car actually belongs to him. He must be very rich!

The door of the store creaked and someone walked out of it. I turned and saw my mysterious stalker walking toward me. His face was still hidden behind a face cap and mask. Outside of the store wasn't as gloomy as the inside of the store so I noticed a skull-like symbol on his neck which was similar to the symbol on his nose mask.

I flinched and dashed to meet my savior who was about to enter his car. He sat down on the driver seat and looked up. He frowned. It seemed like he was getting irritated with my disturbance.

I bit my lip and looked at the entrance of the store. I cleared my throat and tried to act unbothered. "I'm… I need a ride."

He scoffed. "You said you will call an uber."

I nodded. Yeah, he was right, but then I didn't know that the stalker was still watching me! I went to the other side of his car, opened it and sat beside him.

I shrugged and looked at the side mirror to check if my stalker was following me. "I changed my mind."

He smirked. I actually wasn't aware I had just stepped into the lion's den. The lion was secretly waiting in the dark, but I went into the darkness like a lost sheep.

"Alright, I will give you a ride." He said and drove out of the garage.

I uttered a sigh of relief as we drove out of the garage. The stalker wasn't in sight so I guess he left. I told him my destination.

I smiled at my savior. "Thank you."

He shrugged, his eyes concentrating on the road. "I haven't done anything yet."

I grinned. "Of course you did. You saved me."

He smirked and his eyes kind of darkened. "I didn't save you, I just prevented you from being taken."

"That's the same thing as saving me." I pointed out.

He was trying to let me know he wasn't actually my savior and I was blind by his disguise of kindness that I didn't realize that the whole stalking thing might just be a way to make me come to him.

I relaxed on my seat. "You probably know that I'm a singer, right?"

He shook his head. "No, I don't."

I sat up and looked at him, surprised. I thought I was gaining more popularity after airing my latest album, fatherhood. I mean some of the songs in the album have more than 10 Millions views on youtube and it was displayed on a lot of billboards from all over the world.

I blinked my eyes trying to understand how he doesn't know me. At the very least , he could have seen me on TV.

"You don't know me?" I asked again.

He frowned and looked at me. "Am I meant to know you?"

I pouted. I was used to being recognized that it felt strange that he didn't know me. "Well, it's not like you are meant to, but I was thinking you might have seen my pictures somewhere. Maybe on magazines, billboards, television or even on social media."

"I don't have time for any of those." He said coldly.

I nodded. "Okay. I have a concert in New York coming up on Saturday night. I will be glad if you can come."

I unzipped my handbag and brought out a plastic ticket. I stretched it towards him. "This is a ticket to the concert, you can accept it as an act of gratitude."

He glanced at the ticket. "I can't accept it."

"Why?"

"I'm always busy on Saturdays."

"It doesn't matter, just take it. If you have some spare time then you can come and check on me," I insisted.

He hummed, took the ticket from my hands and kept it in one of the drawers of his car.

He stopped the car before my music studio and looked at me. "This is the place, right?"

I nodded and stretched out to open the door of the car. I paused and looked at him. I might never have crossed paths with him, but I wanted us to meet again so I asked for his phone number.

He looked at me, surprised. "You want my number?"

I nodded. "Yeah, I want to get to know you."

If I knew who he truly was, I wouldn’t have wanted to know him. I would have run away from him the moment I bumped into him in the hallway of the shoe store. If I knew what he had done to my family… if I knew he was more dangerous than my stalker… If I knew he was after me, I would have hated him with all my gut and wouldn’t have asked for his number.

If only I knew.
