Chapter 38 – Veiled Emotions

Not sure if it was a dream or reality, but I jolted awake with a silent scream, drenched in sweat, and panting like a dog in heat.

"Did I just kill someone?" I questioned, still unable to grasp the meaning of the dream. I scanned my surroundings; the room was empty, and there was no blood on the ground. "That must have been a dream," I muttered again, though a gruesome one.

I sighed, collapsing back onto the bed, as my mind slowly replayed what had happened before I lost consciousness. In other words, I'm like a ticking time bomb, ready to explode with any little provocation. "Ah... I really did make a mistake coming here, didn't I?" I questioned myself.

"No, Sophie, there must be a way out of this mess," I thought, rising from the bed.

Thankfully, the wounds on my stomach were healing, and I seemed to be experiencing less pain compared to when I first came about.

"I'm thirsty," I whispered, scanning the room for a jug or bottle of water. "Anyone there?" I called out, but the
