Chapter 39 – No Escape

As much as I loathed it, from that day on, Rick began paying close attention to me, and Alex was no exception.

Later, Nat brought the shopping bags to my room. I stared at her for a whole two minutes. They left the door to the room open, and Rick stood guard, but I could sense that only half of his concentration was here, undoubtedly afraid I might go berserk and harm the annoying brat.

Huh!"

"Annoying brat? 'Since when did Nat become annoying to me?' This is not good.

"What?" she questioned my stare.

"Seriously, you went shopping again?" I asked, trying to get the thought out of my head. "You still haven't learned your lesson." I added with a forced smile.

"Ha-ha-ha, that's funny," she spat out and threw the bags on the bed, joining me. "These are your shopping bags. I've been keeping them for you ever since the accident. Now that you are awake, you can have them back," she said.

"Oh, wait! I thought there were destroyed alongside the car?" I asked as I picked up the phone bag.
