THREE WONDERFUL KIDS

Hagne sat at the dinner table or rather, what was left of it with her children. Fia sat beside her, her eldest and first daughter Edvige sat at the edge of the table and her only son Ciro sat opposite her.

In front of them were plates of salad, cheese, fish, eggs, fruits and fried chicken. It was quite different from what they were used to but since it was Fia’s birthday, they had made an exception.

Hagne wiped her hand on a brown wash cloth and spread them across the table.

“Let us pray”. She said. But her children had already put the forks into their mouth. She blinked once and withdrew her hands.

“Never mind”. She grabbed her fork and put some eggs into her mouth. A sigh of satisfaction escaped her lips as she chewed. If only every day was like this, she wouldn’t have to cry herself to sleep every night and wake up with a throbbing headache.
