Ungoldly Morning

“Theo, can I talk to your wife? I’m curious about the history of the Citrine stone she gave me the other day,” I blurted out before Theophile could speak.

“Oh, you called me this early in the morning just for that?” he sighed, sounding exasperated.

“Hey, this strange stone is emitting smoke,” I complained.

“Just wait a moment. She’s out watering her plants,” Theophile replied.

“It’s really important. Please...” I pleaded, my voice tinged with desperation.

I heard him walking away.

“Is Lavelle not there?” Alpha Matthew whispered.

“No, she’s busy watering her plants,” I replied with a hint of annoyance.

A few minutes later, Lavelle’s voice came through, “Hello there, is someone missing me?”

“Ermm... Lavelle, I have to admit I don’t exactly miss you that much, darling. There’s something stranger than missing you,” I sighed.

“What’s weighing on your mind, Lauryn, my love?”

“Do you remember when Autumn gave me that Citrine stone?” I questioned.
