I can't wait to meet him

Amber’s pov

Should I consider my split from Dave a stroke of luck? I couldn't help but smile at the thought of their reaction when Dave and Gwen arrived to collect his car. They were bewildered upon seeing me in a brand-new, highly expensive car.

"Why did you keep me waiting before coming to retrieve your car, which is taking up space in this compound?" I calmly questioned them. This was the moment when my grandmother realized that something was seriously amiss between Dave and me. She sat in the back seat of my new car, and I had deliberately orchestrated the scene this way.

"Are you sure she owns the car?" they whispered among themselves.

"But she sounded like she was begging on the phone yesterday," Dave replied Gwen, unaware that I could hear him. Their faces were filled with shame. This was surely not the outcome they had anticipated. Perhaps they had expected me to kneel before them, just as Dave had instructed me to do when I caught them together in bed.

"Didn't you tell me she had no money in her bank account?"

  "I withdrew all the money..."

They were so embarrassed that they didn't realize they were speaking aloud what they thought they were only saying to themselves.

This experience taught me never to lose hope. When Dave kicked me out of his house and I lost my inheritance, I thought it was the worst thing that could happen to me. My grandmother needed money for her surgery, and I had no hope until Mr. Morgan presented me with a substantial sum of money to make his son fall in love with me.

"Amber, what's going on between you and your husband?" Grandma interrupted my thoughts as we were going for her medication.

"I am your grandmother, not someone else. What are you hiding from me? And you also prevented me from expressing gratitude to Dave for what he did for me."

I couldn't help but burst into laughter at her words and my hands were on the steering.

"Grandma, on our way home, I'll tell you everything. Let's get to the hospital.”

Where should I begin? Should I still inform my grandma about the lost inheritance? I pondered as we made our way back to the car after her medication. As soon as I started the engine and began to drive, I heard my grandma's voice from the back seat.

  "Amber, what's happening?"

"Grandma, Dave divorced me a few days ago, and he has replaced me with my best friend."

"What? What happened?" She asked, clearly surprised.

"We're no longer together. That's all I can say for now. He betrayed me for my best friend. Both he and my best friend have let me down, but the outcome is incredibly satisfying, and they are the ones feeling ashamed."

"Who paid for my medical expenses? I remember you stopped me from thanking him."

Should I inform my grandma that I'm in a relationship with the wealthiest man's son in the city? That was the only way I could afford to cover her hospital bills.

"Amber...?" she called out. "Why are you shutting me out of your life and keeping me in the dark?"

I hadn't realized I had kept her in the dark. I was lost in my thoughts, transitioning between them and her words. I pulled over at the side of the road, needing to face her directly. Her tone already conveyed her displeasure at being excluded from my situation.

"Grandma, I didn't want to burden you with all of this when it happened. I knew how much you love me, and I didn't want anything to happen to you. I'm sorry."

"But how do you have all this money? Enough to transfer me to the intensive care unit for my operation. You paid all my medical bills upfront, and yesterday, you arrived home with a brand-new, very expensive car."

"Grandma, it's time for me to be honest with you. It's crucial that I open up to you now because starting tomorrow, I'll be..." I couldn't help but smile. Am I already in love with someone I haven't met? If his father treated me so well that all my worries turned into amusement, then I can't wait to meet his son. My grandma just stared at me and was waiting for me to continue.

"I... I'm in a relationship with the wealthiest man's son in the city. In fact, I'll be leaving for his house tomorrow. It's because of your health that I've been keeping my distance from him."

"You broke up with Dave and didn't tell me, you have a new boyfriend, and you didn't think it was necessary to introduce him to me? What has gotten into you?"

"Grandma, I'll bring him to you at the right time. Can we go home now?" I asked, starting the car and driving away.

The next day, the day I would meet a man I had never met before, felt magical to me. I kept pondering over what dress to wear and how to style my long hair. I wanted to evoke emotions in my heart that I could convey to him during our first conversation. The first impression I made would have a significant impact on our relationship. Would he expect intimacy on our first meeting? My heart and mind were consumed with thoughts of him, willing to accommodate whatever he desired. Amidst these thoughts, there was one belief I firmly held: Morgan's son might be quite shy. He was born into wealth and had all the material possessions to make a woman comfortable.

Throughout the day leading up to the following day, my mind was preoccupied with what to wear and how to present myself to him. Additionally, I found it fitting to hire a caregiver online to look after my grandma in my absence, opting for the most expensive service available.

Around 4 PM, I heard a knock on the front door. I came out and met the two ladies sent by the caregiving service, and I introduced them to my grandma. Then, I transferred a substantial amount of money into my grandmother's account for her to purchase whatever she desired. I did all of this because I didn't know what the outcome of my relationship with Morgan's son would be.

Finally, the day arrived to meet the mysterious man. I took my time to bathe, dress myself in one of my expensive and captivating gowns, specifically the one I wore on my first wedding anniversary. I wanted to give myself to someone who valued me, not like Dave, who deceived me after all I had done for him.

At 2 PM, I emerged from my room, a sweet fragrance trailing behind me. After instructing the two caregivers, who would take turns looking after my grandma, to bring my luggage to the car, I went to my grandma's room.

  "Grandma, I'm about to leave."

She opened her arms wide and embraced me. "You have your parents' kindness," she said, planting a kiss on my forehead. "When will I see you again? Now that you've made everything comfortable for me.”

"I'll always keep in touch with you, Grandma. We're not going to be apart." We hugged again, and tears of joy and love welled up in my eyes. I kissed her on the cheeks and left. My luggage was already in the car trunk, and I couldn't help but think that Morgan must have informed his son about my visit since he had sent me the address of his house. However, I wondered why his son hadn't called me yet. Pushing aside that question, I dismissed the thought, assuming he must be a very busy person.

Eventually, I arrived at the address and stopped at the gate. The address matched perfectly with what I saw before me. For the first time, I screwed to the end of the message of the address and this was when I saw the name of Morgan's son that had been there all along. Mr. Adrian.

"Mr. Adrian! Mr. Adrian!" I repeated, feeling the air rush through my nostrils, knowing that my heart was racing in anticipation of meeting the man who had unknowingly impacted my life and my grandmother's life so greatly. I gripped the steering wheel to gather courage. Glancing at my wristwatch, it was 3:10 PM. This place was quite far from my grandmother's home, and little did I know that the security personnel inside the house had already spotted me and were waiting to see what I would do. Suddenly, the gate opened, and I drove inside. Stepping out of my car, I was greeted by the serenity of the compound and the magnificent mansion. A beautiful garden with vibrant flowers and a crystal-clear pool adorned the left side, while rows of cars lined the right. The enchanting paradise-like garden captured my attention completely. I imagined running around with Adrian in this peaceful garden and then diving into the pool, wearing my white swimsuit. Lost in my thoughts, I failed to notice the first man who approached me.

"Miss Amber...?" he said respectfully, pulling me back from my daydream. The mention of my name indicated that they had been expecting me.

"Yes, yes," I replied, looking at him, and just as I was about to realize that he was Adrian, he introduced himself.

  "I'm Mr. James. Williams."

"Where is Mr. Adrian Morgan?" I asked immediately.

"My boss is not home yet," he replied.

As I prepared to retrieve my luggage from the car, he quickly intervened, saying,

"Please, allow me to carry them for you," and led me inside. Each part of the house showcased remarkable architectural craftsmanship. It was a beautiful house, and Adrian and I were about to turn it into a loving home. James showed me around, introducing me to Gabriel, the house's chef, who was already dressed in his chef attire. The three of us engaged in conversation effortlessly, and when James suggested,

"You can familiarize yourself with the building," it brought me a sense of peace. However, I longed to see Adrian, eagerly awaiting his embrace and kiss. Stop! I smiled to myself as I held the glass of wine James had given me. Lost in my thoughts, I became oblivious to my surroundings.

After waiting for approximately twenty minutes, I noticed the sitting room's front door swing open, revealing James holding a suitcase, followed by a man dressed in a smart navy blue suit. The man was tall and distinguished, catching my immediate attention. His strong jawline only enhanced his attractiveness, and a neatly trimmed beard added a touch of rugged charm. His captivating eyes, like glistening gold, held a mesmerizing intensity that commanded my gaze. He possessed an undeniable allure, similar to a striking model gracing the cover of a magazine. He was, unquestionably, the most stunning man I had ever laid eyes upon.

"Who are you, and what are you doing in my house?" he demanded as he came closer to me. His words shattered the smile on my face. Unconsciously, I rose from my seat, and he turned to James and angrily asked.

"Why did you allow a stranger into my house without first informing me?"
