Marcus was involved in a car accident. When I heard the news, the glass in my hand fell on the floor. I postponed the meeting and hurried to the hospital.

When I arrived, the Meyer family and Clara were all there for him.

His head was swathed in white gauze, and his face was a shade paler than usual. He looked fragile but still charming. My heart ached for him.

"Mr. and Mrs. Meyer," I greeted Marcus' parents.

They most likely did not expect me to receive the news so quickly, nor did they anticipate that I would arrive so soon and show such concern for Marcus.

The Sherwoods' daughter had a reputation for being cold-blooded. Gossip held that I had even framed my own father to gain power. This gossip had already circulated widely in my social circle.

No one wanted to associate with someone as ill-reputed as me.

Mr. and Mrs. Meyers politely smiled at me and said, "Thank you, Lea. Marcus is fine. Please don't worry."

Then, the two of them left the ward and left us some space.
