Chapter 94

Nate

Maya went to open the door while I closed the file with the sales proposals. I heard voices coming from the entrance and frowned, and I went, too, finding Maya standing at the door with three people. Two women and a police officer.

"What’s going on?" I asked.

"Mr. Nathaniel Dare, right?" asked one of the two women, reading a file.

"Nate," Maya said with a string of her voice.

I saw her lose her balance and immediately I was behind her to support her. I surrounded her waist with one arm and put her back on my chest.

"They want to get Axel," she said in a whisper.

My head snapped, as did my whole body. I pushed Maya behind me and blocked the door, preventing him from seeing inside the apartment.

"You can’t come in here and kidnap a minor," I said with my teeth clenched, my heart pounding in my throat and pounding.

"We have an order from the juvenile judge," said the woman.
