27: Have a taste

My blanket was uncharacteristically heavy... And my room was uncharacteristically hot. I was sweating profusely and I struggled to breath under my heavier than normal blanket.

My head was throbbing lightly and my breath smelled funny. No, it smelled horrible. Last night remained a blur and I couldn't feel my legs.

'It's okay, baby. I'm here. I'm not leaving. Breathe.' I remembered that voice from last night. An achingly familiar voice that seemed to have brought me so much peace.

Arching my back, I twisted on the bed, stretching a bit and sighing in contentment as the kinks in my joints straightened out.

My blanket tightened itself around me and when I tried to struggle out of it, I heard a masculine groan of protest.

I froze. Ice water trickling down my spine.

That voice sounded familiar but the slight throbbing in my head made it impossible to make the connection. I twisted on the bed, ever so slightly, until I was staring at the naked chest of a man.
