31: Living A Nightmare

Several Centuries Ago

I walked into Altan's home, feeling heartbroken. There was a raw pain that just wouldn't go away. I'd thought that I'd finally found a solution. But, once again, I'd failed. I opened the door to Altan's room. He was lying on the floor, curled up in a fetal position and beside him was the vivid stains of blood. I quickly rushed to his side and knelt beside him.

"Liam?" I whispered, patting his pale face. He cracked his eyes open, revealing how bloodshot his eyes were.

"Elsa... you're back" he croaked and I nodded, tears filling my eyes.

"I'm sorry for the mess I made. I couldn't stop it...it hurt too much" he rasped, his facial features pained.

"I know. Please, don't apologise" I said with a shaky voice as I helped him sit up. He leaned on me, resting his head against my chest. Then, he closed his eyes. "The pain has been unbearable, Elsa. My time is running out, I can feel it" he wheezed and I let out a sob.

"Please..." I cried.
