Jocelyn and Zion had stayed a while before they left. The house was empty afterward. I sat on the couch, lost in thought. Solomon was having a shower, and I could hear the water droplets crash on his body from here. It was unique but uncanny.

That was what the power felt like. That was how we have felt for almost a thousand years. Tomorrow would make it a thousand years since we became vampires. Tomorrow would mark the day our lives changed forever. I blamed our mother and Solomon for what they had done to me. I never wanted this kind of life. They knew what was going on. Philomena had to Solomon about becoming a vampire, and he had agreed. 

I knew nothing about it. I was told to go to the cave and wait for them. I was forced into this life by them. And now I was the menace the whole supernatural world dreaded. All because of the greed of my family. I didn't blame them, though. I understood why Mother did so. She wanted us to be together forever after our dad died
