Around 9am, the sailor who missed muster with no call, no warning, walked into my office. I looked up from the work order I was about to sign off on, and I glanced at him. “HT3 Whitehall, where have you been?” I asked and put my pen down. I gave him a hard look and he seemed uncomfortable under my gaze. “I-uh,” He cleared his throat and tried again. “I got into a fight last night at a bar and got arrested. They just released me. They didn’t even give me a phone call, so I couldn’t call anyone in the command.” With that, I looked at him over the rim of my glasses, and sat back in my desk chair, and just looked at him. “You need to go talk to Chief and LT, this is out of my hands. You get to explain what happened. It is up to them to punish you. I can deal with tardiness, but when it comes to my sailors getting in trouble and law gets involved, I have no power. Get out of my office.”
