Chapter 32 – Protector

"Can you tell me more about your childhood?" I quietly whispered as I traced his chest. His embrace on my waist tightened, pulling me closer to him. Currently on the bed and just fresh out of the shower, we're embraced in each other's arms—resting.

"There was one time when we visited New York, I got lost and separated from my parents." I thought he wouldn't want to share anything more because he was uncomfortable but I was wrong when he started to talk.

"I was twelve then, maybe eleven? I don't remember. But what I remember was reaching a dirty alley shouting my parents' names and some thugs told me to shut up. I got angry and I thought I could stand up to them because they were all skinny guys and were probably homeless. They had tattoos and scars all over them but I was already receiving training then. But I was wrong, so so wrong..." He chuckled.

"Did you get beaten up?" I worriedly asked.

"Yeah, real bad," he said and nodded.
