Chapter 49 Part II – Like A Lamb To The Slaughter

I worked on keeping my expression blank, like a fresh slate. Like I was not looking at the bloody sight of the man I've always revered and... loved. He raised his gaze to stare at Jett and I saw blood trickle from his forehead to his chin, going through the side of his eyes like he was crying crimson tears.

But I knew he was far from tearing up. I was proven correct when I saw the side of his lips curl up to a smirk. A condescending and mocking smirk that I was sure threw my husband off. Jett sent a harsh blow as he released his grip on Jaguar's chin, sending him to the wall. I could feel the vibration when his skull met the cobbled wall and I couldn't help but show my wince.

I doubt Jaguar will survive another one of those. So I tried interrupting.

"Jett," I called him. "Isn't that a little too rough?"

Jaguar's eyes went to me. Our eyes briefly met but I quickly averted them to look at Jett's back. I couldn't see what expression he wore but I doubt it's a pleasant one.
