As soon as I noticed that the driver had arrived home, I didn't waste any more seconds before coming down from the car and immediately rushing upstairs. I was thankful that Alice didn't see the need to call me back and ask me what was going on because I didn't think I was in the right state of mind to be polite to her.

I hurriedly walked into my room, locked the door behind me and kicked off my shoes recklessly.

I stripped out of my dress and walked into the bathroom to take a quick shower and also hoped that the water would help calm my nerves and lighten my terrible mood.
