Loved Ones and family

It happened to be a great day at Brass Enterprise. The owner of the Firm Mr. Gregory Johnson turned 55. His friend and employees threw a little Party to celebrate his birthday and also appreciate him for being an amazing Boss.

Mr. Greg as he was fondly called by many was a fifty five years old Widower who lost his Wife during the birth of their second child or so he told everybody. It's been twenty years since her death and he was yet to get over her. So, he kept going, admitting his daily life and practically living his life solely for his Kids.

His first child, his daughter, works as a fashion designer and runs loads of charity organizations. While his second child, his son was studying medicine abroad.

The day was going smoothly as few people gathered in one of the mini conference rooms to celebrate the birth of a great man. Each person representing a department at the Firm. His friend Maxwell was not left out.

"Attention please." Maxwell called and gently tapped the base of his glass with a spoon, gaining the attention of everyone in the room.

"We're all gathered here to celebrate my dear friend, a great Man. A man who single handedly built the almighty Brass Enterprise from scratch to finish. Not only did he do that, he worked tirelessly to establish it and ensured it ran smoothly. What we all see and enjoy in this Firm today is the work of the powerful man standing right there." He said pointing at Gregory while everyone either nodded or murmured in agreement.

"One of the best things that happened to me was knowing you my friend. You are an embodiment of loyalty, love and humility. I have never met someone like you my whole life. You are strong willed, you are a fighter and you are a dedicated father, a good friend and Boss. So today, I celebrate you and everything you've worked so hard to achieve in life. I celebrate you for reaching and gradually passing the golden age. Greg, you're an amazing friend and business partner. Today being your birthday, I wish you joy beyond words, more success and great achievements. I am so proud of how far you've come. Above all, I pray that you find Happiness that you seek and May Love locate you. Amen!"

"Amen!" The people present at the party chorused.

"Happy birthday my dear friend." Maxwell added as they clicked their glasses together.

Gregory smiled all through the beautiful birthday prayers from Maxwell who gave him a hug and handshake afterwards

"Thank you Max. You've been a wonderful and amazing friend. Hopefully we'll grow old together."

"I ain't growing old anytime soon man." Maxwell said and both men burst into heavy laughter.

Greg received more handshakes and hugs from the employees, friends and well wishers who were to witness the birthday celebration. While the party was still ongoing, he received a call and excused himself.

Discovering the video call was from his kids, he quickly left to his office to pick the call. smiling even wider, he picked up the call.

"Birthday Boy." His daughter, Angie called, causing him to let out a soft laughter as he shut the door to his office.

"How is the birthday Boy doing?" His son, Nelson Chipped in.

"Better than he was yesterday and the day before." He replied.

"You'd better." Angie sounded.

"I don't even have a choice, not with the amount of love I've received today. It's been.....it's been overwhelming." She giggled.

"Awww." Nelson said.

"Stop that Nel." Greg let out a soft laughter

"Happy Birthday Daddy." His kids chorused.

"But I Hope you're partying tonight, Pops. Cause I'm so in the mood for a party." Angie asked, smiling.

"You know this whole party thing is not for me, baby. I've got a whole lot on my plate for the week."

"Boring..." Angie whined.

"Umm, you know what? Why don't I send down some money to you so that you can hang out with your friends and party hard on my behalf." Greg replied to her.

"Not gonna happen." Angie replied.

"Come on baby, something you can do for the boys please....."

"No, my answer is no.,"

"Angie, why don't you take the party home to Dad tonight. That way, the both of you get to party together." Nelson suggested.

"Uhmm, that sounds great. Why do you think Daddy?"

Looking out through the glass wall in his office, Gregory couldn't help but jog back memory lane to when he met his late wife. She was so calm, kind and very brilliant. Until they got married. He remembered the constant mind blowing contributions and ideas she always provided him with. Brass Enterprise was a real success because she contributed a lot to it. Even though most people including himself didn't agree with her methods. Only if she was here to see how big Brass has grown.

"Dad, are you still there?" Nelson called bringing his father back to reality.

"Of course, I'm right here. I heard you Angie, I won't make the money transfer then. But I won't mind sharing a glass of wine with you tonight."

"Yippee!! I'm all in. I'll just cancel my engagements for the evening. What time is our mini celebration? I would suggest seven or eight."

"I'll be ready by Seven." Greg said.

"That's great. Would you like a video call from us Nel, just so you don't feel left out." Angie asked her brother.

"So thoughtful of you. But, you both should have Fun. Just spoil him a little Angie. He really deserves some fun in his Life."

"Son. It's been so long since you visited home. When are you likely to come home?"

"Don't know yet Dad. I have a lot on my plate right now. Visiting home might extend till next year sir."

"Ahhh! I miss you so much."

"I know..... me too." Nelson replied. "Angie, will you be going with her?

"With who?" Greg asked immediately.

"Nobody." His kids chorused together.

"What are guys up to?"

"Nothing dad. I'll try my best Nel. But you know your father. He's just too professional. I'll see you by seven, Daddy. said Angelina.

"Alright baby, I'll see you soon." Greg replied.

His kids blew him kisses and went ahead with their usual talks on how much they love him and how he is the center of their existence. Angie did not miss the opportunity to remind him that once she falls in love with somebody's son, He might get to lose a majority of the spot he occupies in her heart. So, she encouraged him to make out time to some of the eligible ladies seeking his attention.

If there was anything Gregory loved about his Daughter, it was her bluntness. She'd never be the one to polish words or hide her feelings away.

Once the call ended, Greg drew a breath in, feeling so good. It was indeed beautiful to see people celebrate him, people that love, appreciate and wish him well. He thought of how lonely he's been over the years and he wondered if he would end up being alone for the few remaining years he had left to spend on earth. Shifting these thoughts to a farther part of his mind, Greg went back inside to join the ongoing party.
