Chapter 2

Damian

Today I’m going to the shop. It’s been about a week since my uncle Skull left and everything has been calm. I’m keeping my guard up but I’m glad there hasn’t been any retaliation for me kicking him out.

As I walk in the custom bike shop, one of the many businesses the club owns, I notice two of the mechanics arguing and it’s getting louder. One of them a prospect named Koda is going toe to toe with my seargant at arms Ax.

“Listen Koda, I know your new here but there’s a pecking order and whatever I say goes unles the Prez or VP are around.”

“I get that man but come on, I can do so much more around here than run errands. I know my way around a bike. Let me work here man”

I walk up behind the prospect and half scare him when I ask him “What do you know about custom bikes?”

The prospect whirls around and looks at me and starts studdering. “I, uh, I don’t know a lot but give me a bike and I can learn to fix it. Sir, I mean Prez.”

This kid is barely old enough to be called a man. I’m surprised I even let him prospect being 18. But he showed initiative and I’m all for a fair shot. So I give him a look over and tell him that there’s an interview coming in later on in the day for the open mechanic position and I’ll come up with a way to make the interview a competition between the two of them. This kid looks like he’s about to piss himself in excitement and I almost laugh at him.

As the kid walks off to continue doing prospecting stuff, or the shit work us club member like to call it, I look at Ax. And he eyes me curiously.

“What?” I look at him raising my eyebrow.

“I thought you said this interview is the real deal? You want to piss him off with some type of contest? We need an actual mechanic in here. I’m tired of doing all the work cuz your busy with other shit.”

I know he doesn’t mean that offensively and it’s true I would be here everyday if I didn’t have to deal with all of the club’s businesses.

“Yea I know but that prospect is the youngest we got and he’s the one who’s trying the hardest so why not?”

“Alright Prez, it’s your call”

That’s Ax’s way of agreeing to disagree and I’ll take it.

“What’s this guys name that’s coming in anyway?” Ax asks me curiously and honestly I’m curious too.

“I don’t know. They emailed their resume and everything. The first name just says the letter L. L Walker. Says there from the east coast.”

“They better not be into fucking sports bikes and bullshit. This a Harley shop not some place for the little boys that ride crotch rockets.”

I stifle a laugh at Ax’s comment and just shake my head. “Nah they’re into Harleys man. Even sent a photo of their own bike. Apparently they restored an old Easy Rider and made it all chrome with the American flag on the tank and skulls etched on the tailpipes. Looks bad ass. I told them they better ride the bike here for the interview. That way we know they’re for real.”

“Good call man. Could’ve looked that shit up online.”

“Yea, well I’m off to the office to get the paperwork done.”

“Prez when are you going to hire a damn accountant to do that shit for you? Come on man you haven’t worked on your project bike in a month.”

He’s right. I bought an old Harley JH two can that was used back in WWII. I thought it’d be a great window piece to show off the work we do but I just haven’t had the time and I refuse to let another man work on my bike.

“I’ll get to it Ax.” I know he’s not happy with my answer but I couldn’t care less. I may not have time but this way means that the numbers are always right and I don’t have to worry about anyone ripping us off.

I get to my office and get to do my paperwork for the day and before I realize it it’s three forty five in the afternoon and it’s almost time for the interview with Koda and L whoever. Koda walks up to the doorway and asks if the other guy is here yet. I tell him no but to take a seat out in the bay until they get here.

It isn’t long until we all hear the sound of a Harley coming around the corner. And we all look out front to see the interviewee through the window. I hear cat calls and whistles before the door opens. I stay in my office because I’m assuming some biker bunny showed up again to try and hook one of the guys for the night.

Then I hear it. The unmistakable sound of someone getting hit then a shuffle then someone hitting the floor. I take a deep breath assuming two of the guys are fighting to show off in front of whatever woman is here.

When I peak out my door all I see are guys standing around in the middle of the room. I push through them all and see the funniest damn thing in my life. The fucking prospect is being held in a choke hold and is losing fast. When I look up to see who is doing it I’m greeted with the bluest eyes I’ve ever seen in my life.

She looks up at me sees my patch then releases the prospect, stands up while brushing her hands off and walks towards me. The guys make way for her because their all scared by now. She puts her hand out and looks up at me and says “Hi I’m Lilith Walker, I’m here for the four o’clock interview.”

Lilith

I’ve convinced Aubrey and we’re finally in Denver. We are meeting Kelly at a local restaurant for some food before we settle into the apartment. It was a long ride especially me on my bike and Aubrey driving the kids.

I thought about what I wanted to do when we get there and I decided on working on bikes. Not just any bike either. Custom bikes are my bread and butter. My grandfather was big into bikes and when I was little he’d take me on rides. My uncle also runs a club out in Southern California and when I used to visit him in the summers we would have a blast riding back roads. He passed from cancer when I was 18. He taught me everything I know which is a lot since we made bikes out of anything. We even made one out of a car chassis!

When I finally found a shop that was hiring I emailed them my resume and experience and they wanted to know more so I sent them picks of my own bike which is a custom easy rider with a flag on the tank and skulls on the tailpipes. It looks amazing and I’m so proud of it.

When I was sending in my resume I decided that I should only put the letter L as my first name because I didn’t want my gender to decide if I was worthy of the job or not. It may be 2022 but men still like to tell women where they should and shouldn’t work. I’ve had enough experience in the military with the same to know it’s gonna be a while until real change is made.

It must have worked because I have an interview the next day and I’m so excited. I can’t wait to get to work doing something I love.

After dinner we all go to the house we’re renting just outside of town. It’s on a farm and the landlords own the farm. It’s big and spacious enough for the three of us plus two kids. We get settled in and all pass out quickly.

The next day the kids and Aubrey decided to have a lazy day while I got ready for my interview. I must have changed my outfit 10 times while getting ready. I couldn’t tell you why it mattered what I was wearing. I mean I’m interviewing for a mechanic position. Grease and grim are in the definition.

I finally decided on a pair of ripped straight jeans with ankle high black riding boots with a Harley tank that was just a half size too small to show off my abs.

Hey I know I’m not a model but I know that my abs paired with strong arms and legs and the full sleeves of tattoos I have is enough to send any man into a frenzy. I have it. Why not flaunt it?

I walk into the kitchen where everyone is getting lunch and decide to make myself a sandwich along with a sweet tea. I get eyes from everyone at the table and try to ignore them.

“You going for an interview or going on a date with a biker?” Kelly slyly comments. She’s been going on and on about this guy who’d be ‘perfect’ for me.

“I’m not here to date. I’m interviewing at a custom bike shop. Figured I’d look the part.”

“Just don’t get into any fights okay?” Aubrey has this crazy idea that I look for arguments everywhere I go. So I gave a few guys black eyes when they hit on me? They didn’t seem like the type to take no for an answer anyway.

“I’m not going to hit anyone. I promise.” They all look at me like I’m joking. “I’m serious, I won’t hit a single person today. You’ll see.”

As I’m riding my bike around town to clear my head a bit before this interview I’m starting to realize that I might actually like this town a lot more than I thought I would. I’m seeing a lot of small businesses that are thriving. It’s a small town just on the outskirts of Denver and you can tell that they are all about supporting each other.

It’s getting closer to four so I turn down the street where the shop is on and I notice that I’m getting looks from everyone on the street. There are bikers that look like they’ve never seen a woman ride before. Women who look at me like I’m their idol. And of course sluts who look at me like I’m competition.

I pull up in front of the shop and park my bike. I’m so nervous that they’ll turn me away because I lied about my name and kept my gender a secret but I’ve never backed down before and I’m not about to start today. I walk through the doors and I’m hit with about ten sets of eyes that look me up and down like I’m some kind of meat.

“Hey girl, want some real power between your legs?” Wow never heard that one before, I’m just going to ignore it until I see someone of importance.

Some young kid walks up to me and I’m thinking he could point me to the office so I try to be nice and get inturupted with “Baby girl, that your Harley out there?”

“Yea, why?” I’m short and to the point because I know something stupid is about to come out of this kids mouth.

“Because I want to know where your biker is so I can congratulate him on such a nice ass” as if it wasn’t enough from his comment this kids leans around my side looks up and down like he has any right to and smacks my ass!

Now I promised Aubrey I wouldn’t hit anyone but I didn’t say I wouldn’t choke some little bitch out. I grab his hand that is about to touch under my chin and wrap it behind his back. He yells out in pain and tried to get out of it. I can tell we’re in about equal strength so it’s not hard for me to kick his feet out so he falls on his ass and I put him in a choke hold. I whisper into his ear “Touch me again and you’ll be my little bitch, baby girl..”

He’s not losing consciousness or anything just struggling to get out of a woman’s choke hold. By this time a crowd had surrounded us and most of them are chuckling at the scene.

I know this could hurt my chances of landing a job here but respect is the only thing that matters to me. You disrespect me or any woman for that matter and I’m taking things into my own hands. With my military training I can definitely hold my own and I’m not afraid of a fight.

I notice a few of the guys are parting and I can tell the manager or owner is coming so I loosen my hold on the kid. I notice his leather cut and the patch on the front says Prez. Fuck. Well might as well say hello. I drop the little shit and brush my hands off and put one out to the monstrosity of a man. He has got to be over 6’6” atleast! I’m looking up to greet him and my arm is slightly raised. Damn I might actually be intimidated by this guy.

“Hi, I’m Lilith Walker. I’m here for the four o’clock interview.”

This guys face goes from half smirk to dead serious in a half a second. And all I can do is hope that he atleast hears me out.

He grabs my hand and squeezes as tight as he thinks I can handle and I squeeze harder. I gotta let them know I’m not a little bitch.

I can feel him retract his arm slightly and I let go. He looks me over and says I’m the deepest monotone I’ve ever heard. “Office” and chin points back the hall.

He takes one last glance around and escorts me back to his office. Damn as I’m looking as his back I notice that his arms are well defined and his back is so muscular you can tell through his cut and that ass! My mouth actually waters a little bit staring at it. His hair is cut short which is weird for a MC president and it is so jet black that it almost looks blue. As he turns and opens the door for me to enter I look up into his eyes. They are the most potent shade of green I’ve ever seen and I have to force myself to move my body to the chair in the office. As I brush past him I get a whiff of the most delectable scent, it’s filled with leather, mint and just a hint of cologne. I get slightly light headed enjoying it.

I sit in the chair and take an unnoticeable deep breath to calm my hormones before this interview starts. Come on Lily this guy could be your future boss! No fucking the boss! I almost have to repeat it in my head when I hear his voice.

“So why didn’t you say you were a girl?”

“I didn’t realize it mattered?” Good keep him on his toes. Maybe he won’t notice you checking him out.

“Doesn’t. Just would’ve told the men to behave”

Damn it. He caught me off guard and looks at me like that whole debacle was my fault. I mean it kinda was but come on! Well might as well apologize.

“Sorry about that. I don’t respond well to disrespect. And an ass smack and reaching towards my face is enough to make anyone fight back.”

He takes a minute to collect his thoughts. “I agree. But you gotta know the kind of women we deal with here. Most give it to any biker willing and these men are quite used to not being told no. Not that it’s an excuse but your still new here. ”

“I understand” I’m not sure what else to say at this point. I’m pretty sure I’m not getting the job so I look up into those jade green eyes and say “Well thank you for your time. And I’m sorry for taking down a club member.” I get up to leave when I hear him chuckle. What?

“Sit down. The interview hasn’t even started yet.”
