Chapter 3

Damian

I can't fucking believe this. A girl biker. A badass looking girl biker. Can't say I've never ran into one before but never one that looks this good. I mean wow! Shes got muscle but not enough to make her butch, just enough to where it's a turn on. Her hair is platinum blonde with a slight red tint making it strawberry, probably the cutest thing about her too. But those eyes, man they look like you could get sucked into them. They're so deep blue that it's hard to focus on anything else. I find my self looking at her nose just to have a conversation. If she wasn't so well qualified to work here I'd probably turn her away just from how good looking she is. I don't need a distraction and neither do the men.

As she's sitting there I notice we're in an actual conversation. Man I hope I didn't say anything stupid. She starts talking about disrespect and now I know that she will fit in good here. We may have a lot of sluts running around the clubhouse and its businesses but that's their choice. I never allow my club to objectify or even degrade women and they know it.

She starts to get up and I find myself not wanting her to leave. I have to think fast so I just blurt out. "Where are you going? The interview hasn't even started yet."

She looks back at me and I can see gratitude in her eyes for treating her like a person before a woman. But she has to know that no matter what, my club comes first.

"So, Here is what's going to happen." I'm starting to regret my promise to the prospect earlier. "I know you know your bikes, and while that is the job we are a part of an MC here and that will always come first. There is a prospect who wants the job too. I told him I would give him a shot and I don't back down on my promises."

Shes just looking at me waiting for me to finish but I have her full attention and I'm loving it. I just wish that this interview lasts long enough for the guys to leave so I can walk her to her bike without an audience.

"The idea is a sort of competition. You each get an old beat up bike in similar conditions. You each have one week to fix it and acquire all the parts on your own. We all have our own connections here and the shop doesn't make enough to buy all the parts. Most guys trade services such as building or security for parts. Same goes for you."

"So I get one week to fix a bike. I put in the work and everything and what? The bike is the shops?"

"No, You can keep the bike if you want or you can sell it through the shop but 20% of the revenue from the bike goes to the shop for the original parts and storage."

“What about the fact that I’m new here and your ‘boy’ has probably grown up here and is well liked if his ‘I walk on water’ attitude is anything to go by.

I sit back and think for a second. How am I going to make this fair? I can’t really give her all my contacts now can I?

“How about a 2 day head start to get meet and greets out of the way. I’ll make sure the prospect doesn’t blackball you for those two days and then I’ll even put a limit on the hours you can work on it. You both are only able to work from 8am to 4pm. And that includes parts runs”

She sits there with this look like she’s trying to figure me out and I can’t help the twitch that happens in my pants. This girl is gorgeous, a real natural beauty.

"Okay" she says.

"That's it?" I'm kind of stunned that's all she had to say. I mean usually women have something to say.

"Yea, Your giving me a fair shot and that's all I can ask for. But if I may ask for one thing in return?"

Okay here it is, the other foot that was bound to drop. This girl can not be this hot, this quiet and not have an attitude. It was bound to be too good to be true. "Yea?"

"I would request that you tell the men that they can not help either of us. If your going to make it equally fair then he should only be allowed to use the same connections as me. I don't know anyone in this town so I'm starting a step behind. I'm assuming he grew up here and knows everyone around here."

"I see." I get what she is saying but the men and the prospect aren't going to like it. Damn it. Oh well, if the prospect really wants this job then he will deal with it. "Fine. I’ll put it out to the club no help, but no flirting with anyone to get parts or help either." Damn it I probably shouldn't have said that. I look into her eyes and see that they turned almost grey. That can't be good.

"You don't know me so I will not hold that against you but know this. I am not here to date, hook up, be a club girl or whatever you call it here. I know how MC's work and I am not one of those girls."

Wow she almost looks offended and now I feel like a complete ass. Good going Damian. Well at least now I know that she wont be dating anyone in the club. "I didn't mean any offense. Just girls around here are all looking to be fender fluff and I don't allow them in this shop is all."

" I got it," she still looks a little pissed but quickly perks up. "So wheres my bike?"

I almost let out a little laugh and just tell her that we are still looking for two that are in similar condition and to just come by the next day to fill out some paperwork. Man, I can't wait to see what this girl can do.

As I walk her to the door I'm starting to notice that she has freckles across her cheeks and that the tattoos on her arms are all military. I'm not sure if I should even ask her about them but she must have noticed before I could look away.

"I served 12 years and 3 tours in the army." Her voice is so flat and quiet I barely heard her.

"Where at?" I don't want to make her uncomfortable but I would like to know a bit more about her. Most of the men in the club have served including myself. Those of us that have, have all been overseas to some part of the middle east and when each of us got back we all grieved in our own way. We even have a house set up so the men can be alone during that process.

"Kuwait was the last one. Before that was Afghanistan and the first was Poland. That one was the easiest by far, it was just a peace keeping mission. Just a show of force and that we can work with the locals."

"Sounds kind of stupid"

She looks up with a half smile and a lot of hurt behind those eyes. Something happened overseas and if she lets me I want to help her. I know I shouldn’t, especially with her being a possible employee. But those eyes.. there’s something behind them. No one lives with that kind of hurt for long without breaking. I don't know what she is surviving for but it must be important if she pushes this hard.

Lilith

Leaving the interview I notice that I never asked him what his name was. Like who just goes by Prez? I’m in my own head and riding back to the house when I look up and there’s Kelly and Aubrey outside on the patio drinking wine. Now this is my scene for sure!

I tell them that the interview went good and we chatted up like old friends again. It sure is nice to be home and in a calm environment again. Not going to lie though I can feel this angst building up out of nowhere. I just need an outlet.

Tyler and Cal are set to arrive with the bulk of our things within the week. They’d probably be faster if Lisa didn’t want to take pictures every hour. Better them than me.

It’s now the next day and I’m getting ready to go into the shop and figure out this competition between me and this prospect. I was so flustered yesterday by my new boss that I forgot to ask who the prospect was.

God that man could turn a nun away from the fold that’s for sure. He looks like he was made by gods. Every muscle, every tattoo, every detail of his angular strong face with just a hint of 5 o’clock shadow. I would be lying if I didn’t think a little too much last night and have to take out good old B.O.B. (Battery operated boyfriend). What can I say the man is hot!

Even today I’m so worked up just knowing I’ll see him again I think I need another private bedroom session before I ride in. Man, where’s a boy toy when you need it? What? Women can use men for sex too. They might not always light up all the bells and whistles but a good romp in the bedroom is just what the doctor orders every once in a while.

I clear my mind, fully clothed, and make my way to the shop. As soon as I get there I see that the place is packed! There’s hardly any room to park and when I walk in there are twice as many men as yesterday. Guess word got out that I was a girl already.

“Hey, girl” the man that described me so eloquently is tall and broad, almost like a big rock. He waves me over to the desk he’s sitting at and points to the chair next to the desk. I’m guessing it’s because he doesn’t want anyone to get put in a choke hold like last time but who really knows.

I simply smile, say thank you and sit patiently. I can hear someone on the phone in the office but it’s impossible to make out what they are saying. Every set of eyes in the place is on me and the mouths with them are silent. There is a faint sound of rock music playing from a very old speaker in the back. I look around and try to read the room. Some have scowls, some have eyes that look like they want to eat me but most are masked with confusion.

I lean over the desk a bit and notice the giant man is just ignoring me completely and just I know we’re going to be friends. “What you think they’re all staring at?” I jokingly as him while he’s filling out some type of receipt.

He’s a bit startled that I’m talking to him but peaks around the room and scoffs “I don’t know. They act like they’ve never seen a woman before.”

I notice a slight smirk at the side of his mouth. I know he can’t let all the guys know he’s got a soft spot and I think I’m it. You can tell he’s old school but not a complete ass. I just know we will get along great!

After a few more minutes of this incredibly awkward staring contest I hear the Prez walk out of his office and chin lift at me and someone else I couldn’t see.

“Office, now.” He says in that gravely voice that does dirty things to me.

As I sit down I look over to the man that I’m in competition with and try to hold in a slight giggle. I failed but hey I still tried!

“You?!” The man spits at me. “Prez come on, a girl? You can’t be serious!”

“Um I’m a woman, not a girl thank you” I correct this little shit. I know it’s not that big of a deal but I think that I’ve held a certain amount of maturity and grace to be called woman.

The prez smirks and stifles a laugh. “Look, this is the way it is. Don’t like it, fucking leave.” I know he’s not doing this just for me but I look into those jade eyes and silently express my gratitude with a slight chin dip.

The prospect grumbles and sits like my son would if I had just scolded him. Slouching, arms crossed and boots kicking at some imaginary thing that will fix his problem.

I just roll my eyes at him and look towards the prez and sweetly ask “So, did you find bikes for us to fix?” Getting straight to the point hopefully distracting the youngin next to me enough to get on task.

“Yea, they’re out back. But first we have to work out a schedule on when you’ll be working on the bikes. Koda, here has responsibilities to the club and that will give you an advantage having more time.”

This kids names must be Koda. Weird, must be a nickname or something. Wonder how he got it..

“Okay, I can schedule my moving in around those times if that’s alright with you. I’m still moving in and the trucks will be here by the end of the week.”

“That’d work. You’ll start Monday at 8 am.” The prez turns his attention back towards his desk and I’m assuming that’s my que to leave. I politely say goodbye and walk out to the lobby.

The big guy I talked to earlier is still the only one not acknowledging my presence so I walk right up to him and the Harley he’s working on. It’s not a very custom build. Looks more like a sentimental build. Leaning down checking out the engine I ask “Is this your bike?”

The big bike just laughs “Nah, my brother blew out the engine and asked me to fix her up” he looks me over and then sticks out his greasy hand “Names Rock”

I don’t hesitate to take his hand grease and all and say hello. “So Rock, where can you can a good steak?”

We talked a couple more minutes and I notice the men are starting to act a bit more normal around me. Atleast it’s a start. I get home and we all go out to eat. The kids insist on sitting at their own table, since they’re only 10 we make them sit at the table next to ours. They don’t like being seen with the moms apparently.

As we’re eating and I’m more than a few beers deep Kelly notices and realizes this is her chance to ask me anything and I’ll most likely say yes to.

“Lily come out with me this weekend! Please!”

“What about Aubrey? I’m sure she’d like to go!”

“No I would not!” Aubrey is the biggest homebody I’ve ever met. If she could work from home everyday she would. She’s an accountant and she can really work from anywhere with an internet connection.

“Of course you wouldn’t. You haven’t been out in years.” Kelly is our wild child of the group. She always has a boyfriend but never gives her heart away. She smart but never knows understands the word no.

I look at Kelly as she slides over another shot of whiskey, my favorite drink. Damn it, she knows how to get me. As I slam the shot and feel the burn I get ready for the hangover the next day and a weekend of parties with Kelly. Monday is going to be a bit rough with this new job but I could use a weekend to blow off some steam before getting to work.
