“What for?” Xander questioned patiently. His calm demeanour was hardly swayed by the woman bleeding out on the chair nearby. 

Vito’s eyes narrowed, “You know why.” He spat. 

“Of course, I just figured your prisoner ought to know the charges before her sentencing.” Xander shrugged and strolled towards the table lined with various bloodied weapons.

“Why are you doing this?” Serenity breathed shakily, staring between both men with scared eyes. Any hope of being rescued from her cruel fate had flown out the door along with Xander’s sense.
