CHAPTER 28: Goodbyes and Beaten Up Escapees

“YOU should eat. I’m going to walk around for any routes to escape.” I mumble. He doesn’t seem very pleased, but I went away anyway.

The place was filled with nothing but trees and the cliff we fell onto was really high up. We only survived because of the pond.

It was all a circle covered in rocks and minimal trees, there was totally nothing to see here anymore. I sigh. Maybe if I look around with Lucius, he might be able to find something.

I head back to the cave. Lucius was breathing heavily, his eyes dilated as he leaned onto a rock behind him. He was bathed in sweat and he looked extremely pale. On his other hand was the pink fruit I found on the bushes with his bite mark on it.

Oh, no . . .

I was wrong.

I was incredibly wrong.

“Don’t touch the fruit, it’s poisonous.” he mumbled as he was losing his breath. His chest was heaving up and down and I look around, panicking.
