Chapter 23 – Old Life
A few days passed and Ciara still couldn’t shake off her feeling of insecurity. Renzo still seemed to be waiting for something on his phone. He was trying to earn using other means, but she also knew he’s not satisfied with the current results. On her own, she’s also thinking of how she could help him. When she tried asking her boss if he could hire Renzo when her contract was over, he clammed up. Wouldn’t say anything about it.
Eight days after he talked to Lee, someone did come to talk to him. He stood tall and confident, but he did look awkward. He has the same expression as Lee when he met her last time. That guilty look. Well now, if he’s feeling that way, maybe things are looking up for him. He could get his jobs back.
“Can I invite you for a drink? Or a meal?” It was nearly time for dinner.
