Chapter Forty

Kierra's POV

Oddly, I haven't seen Aden for the whole day. I asked Madam Charity and she said he hasn't come downstairs since morning. She told me his breakfast and lunch were all taken upstairs to his room.

I knew he wasn't sick. Something was wrong for him not to show up at all.

Even if he decided not to come downstairs, at least he usually used to show up in my room to check up on me or say a simple good morning

"Or was it what Mr Anderson shared with him yesterday?" I marvelled

I went to his room and knocked on the door. There was no answer. I knocked again, but still, there was no answer.

I turned the knob and the door opened.

Aden was sitting on a chair with his legs on his desk. This was where he usually did anything work-related when he came home.

He looked lost. He was only in his trousers and stockings.

He continued to look into space, not aware that I was in the room.

"Aden. Are you alright?" I tapped him on his shoulder pulling him back to the present.

"Kierra, it's you
