Devin had always known that he was different. Ever since he was a child, he had exhibited powers that were beyond human capabilities. But he had no idea where they came from or how to explain them.

As he sat across from Lucinda, he could feel her eyes studying him intently. He had been Arystyn's friend for years and had even helped the family with a few supernatural cases, but this was the first time Lucinda had directly asked him about his own nature.

"Devin," she said slowly, "I've been wondering something for a while now. Are you human?"

Devin sighed inwardly. He had anticipated this question sooner or later, but it still stung. "I am a werewolf, Lucinda," he admitted. "I mean, I don't have any memories of my parents or where I came from. All I know is that I have these other “powers." that most other werewolves don't have.

Lucinda nodded thoughtfully. "I see. And what kind of powers are those?"
