The classes were torture. Primrose kept frowning at me like she was trying to figure out what was going through my head.

“What the hell is wrong with her?” Miguel asked at lunchtime.

“She is mad at me.”

“Why?”

“She wants to meet our new teacher at his house,” I whispered to him. “But he is a sorcerer. He doesn’t give me a good feeling.”

“What?” he exclaimed. “Is that Cairo? She has been whispering about him, but I thought it was a student.”

“Could you try to keep an eye on her?” I asked in shame.

Miguel didn’t even think twice before nodding. Something told me that he already planned to take care of Primrose before I mentioned it. Miguel knew that his love was one-sided, but that didn’t mean he didn’t want to make sure of her well-being. A teacher inviting a student to his house? One who was also a witch?
