Forgotten Note

Viktor's pov

I stared across the table at the man in the donut shop. His story seemed legit, no scent of deception clinging to him. Just the usual nervousness and fear a wolf felt when meeting an Alpha for the first time.

My gaze drifted to the other side of the room, where two young women and a baby awaited my decision. Both females kept their eyes downcast, one humming softly to the child while the other, barely out of her teens, nervously shredded a napkin.

"Let's hear it again," I said, bringing my attention back to the man before me.

He spoke quietly, respectful. "As I said, there was a change in leadership. The Alpha and I didn't see eye to eye on my younger sister's mating. He wanted her, but such a union wouldn't have… pleased her, and she's much too young anyway. We ended up having a bit of a disagreement."

I nodded. Credit to him for not bad-mouthing his old Alpha, even if the leader sounded like a real piece of work. "So you moved to Canada from Spain. Quite a journey. N
