CHAPTER 10

GLENN

Something must have woken me up from what looked to be the shortest sleep I had in a while. I could tell what it was as I sat up suddenly looking around when the click from the door came again.

At this moment I knew that it wasn't all in my head, it was reality there was someone behind the door.

I glanced around to take in my surroundings, the room was dark making it harder for me but at the moment my nerves were very much heightened to move if I could.

I had merely wanted to sleep and I had done that without totally adjusting to the surroundings and it turned out that could as well be a big mistake.

Though still raced in my mind, at that moment the last thing I wanted was someone walking in on me where it was certain I wouldn't be wanted .

Just about the same time that I was about to rest my head again, the door squeaked which made me alert and turn to the door as fast as I could.

“Who was there?” I thought to myself as I sniffed around. The scent of humans filled my nose and my heartbeat echoed in my ear.

I wondered how far my whole journey had been to get to this place I was in, still that wasn't the bone of contention at the moment.

Still trying to process everything, the door tried opening and I quickly dashed for a hideout. I hid perfectly in a locker and gently poked my head to see who it was.

A figure of a tall man appeared as I scrutinized who it was, I could make out most of him from where I was.

Suddenly the whole atmosphere was a bit tensed up— Didn't know why but I could feel my soul lurking out at this man I didn't even know.

Deep inside of me I could feel my wolf let out a yelp and I widened my eyes in surprise. “This can't be!” I thought internally in my mind.

I looked again to see the man standing in all his glory, my wolf became reckless and I tried to tame it. “Not now, please,” I begged.

The last thing I wanted would be to be caught here and with how crazy my wolf was going it looked certain something weird was going to happen.

Whatever was happening was strange, I was sure this man was human so what was this feeling? I stay put, trying not to make any noise or attract him to me.

His scent filled the whole room and was mesmerizing, it felt like his scent was luring me to him but I wasn't going to fall for whatever this was, I couldn't explain it at the same time.

I steadied my breath despite my wolf saying otherwise and waited patiently for him to leave. One part of me wanted to have a very good look at the man who was still making me feel this way and the other just wanted him to leave.

He finally turns around after standing for some minutes, he takes a few steps before switching off the light and leaving the room.

I heaved the breath I had been keeping for a while before coming out of my hideout and let out a sigh as I did.

“What just happened?” I asked no one in particular. Several questions filled my head as I tried to get an answer.

At the moment I still felt dazed about everything, I couldn't explain anything either.

One part of me hoped all this was in my head and I was the one probably overthinking things.

Who is that man? Why did his scent cause a stir and why was my wolf reacting so much to it? I could swear that it was a human but there was just something about him.

A lot of questions raced through my mind and the fact remained that I had answers to none of it.

The fact that my mind was blank was making me go crazy… somehow I wished I could stop this feeling but it looked as though it took over every bit of my mind leaving nothing behind.

My curiosity is at its peak and I wish to get an answer. I was still thinking about this mysterious man when I heard another voice as in what would have been considered foolish I walked toward the door.

This time, it sounded feminine. I reached towards the door with my two palms outstretched and perked my ears, trying to listen to what they were saying on the other side.

They were whispering and sounded so faint, I could barely hear what they were saying and finally gave up. I suddenly became alert, did the man see me but pretended like he didn’t. I wasn’t sure about anything again, according to what I have heard humans have been nothing but dangerous.

They were called cunny and very unpredictable, I wasn’t going to be outsmarted.

Something about this place just seems off, I couldn't think about staying here again.

The air was beginning to feel suffocating and I had this feeling at the pit of my stomach. Something wasn’t right.

I was in an unknown place and anything could be happening, this was not the best idea after all. “I need to get out of here,” I said to myself as I made my way to the door. The place looked a bit abandoned and I wondered where I was, what was this place?

I perked my ears again to see if anyone was there, after making sure it was safe.

I turned the knob of the door but it refused to open. I groaned angrily, not believing what was happening. I wanted to hit the door but refrained from doing so, I didn’t know this person and was not ready to take the risk.

“Shit, he locked the door!” I said with a groan. I tried a few more times but the door wasn't budging, I left the door and looked around the room for somewhere else to leave.

I scanned the room in desperation as I felt my heart race, my heart painted deep inside of me as I thought of how to handle the situation, wondering how in the hell I was going to leave.

There wasn't any place to leave through the door apart from the window.

Making my way towards it, I noticed it was also locked and heaved a long sigh. It was also looking rusty like it had been locked for several years and wouldn’t open anytime soon.

“The universe is playing games with me,” I said to myself.

The fact was I didn't want to play the game it was handing out to me, as matter of fact I wanted to do away with it as much as I could.

I had seen a stool earlier and immediately grabbed it, I made my way to the window and hit it lightly but forcefully causing the window glass to shatter.

The noise of the glass shattering filled the room and at that moment I didn't care if the stranger heard me or not, I just wanted to get away.

The glass was shattered on the floor and small pieces of glass were there. Deciding that I had to do something, I carefully stepped on it but still got cut anyway before climbing the window.

I made it down successfully and ran along, not realizing the trail of blood that had formed from my injury. I ran out of the environment desperately, ignoring the pain that shot from the injury as I leaped from now and then grunting from the pain.

I looked behind to be certain no one was coming after me, pricking my ear I could hear their faint food steps.

I stopped abruptly as I couldn’t do this anymore. The pain was becoming unbearable and I had to shift so the wound could heal. The glass had cut deep into my feet and the injury was beginning to get severe.

I was sure I was far away from that place and could change to my wolf form besides I was sure no one noticed me… My bones crack and change form as I lean against the bark of a tree.

The wind blowing gently just calmed my nerves from what had happened earlier, my mind darted to the man earlier.

Surprisingly, I couldn’t remember his face again… It had gone away from my memory in a way I couldn't explain.

I tried picturing his face but all my plans were abortive. It just seems strange, I had just seen him a few minutes ago.

Maybe my suspicions were indeed right, there was something about him! “Who is he?” I asked myself. My thoughts were suddenly disrupted when I heard the sound of a siren. “What the hell?” I thought, standing at alert.

I noticed the siren was coming from the direction I had just left. I started panicking but decided that wasn't the best thing to do at that moment. Infact it felt like the weirdest thing to do at a moment when I should be strong.

I knew something was wrong.
