28. Echo's accusations

Kendrick sat alone in his office room, the evening shadows casting a somber hue over the space. The walls were adorned with faded family photographs, capturing moments of joy and togetherness that now felt distant. Dust particles floated in the air, catching the faint light that seeped through the half-closed curtains.

He went to a neighboring pack for a meeting. He had returned earlier than intended. He was feeling uncomfortable and restless so he wrapped up the meeting soon.

His heart felt heavy, burdened by a pain he couldn't quite explain. It was as if invisible tendrils of anguish wrapped around his chest, constricting and squeezing with an intensity that left him breathless. The weight of the world seemed to rest on his shoulders, a culmination of his own struggles.

"What's happening?" He asked himself, almost breathless.

"Our mate…" His Lycan howled in his mind as well, making him frown.
