We waited till we were sure Hermes was out of sight and even then, I had Martinez go and check to be sure he was not eavesdropping on our own conversation. Satisfied with the results, we sat at the table again to begin our meeting.

Before we began, I called to Martinez and he looked up at me. If there was one thing I had learnt from my father before his death, it was the fact that every leader should be ready to apologize to his subjects when he was wrong.

I knew I had overreacted in the way I addressed Martinez and I had to apologize.

"About Antonella," I grunted. "I'm sorry I overreacted. But next time, be careful with her. She is just a maid and I don't want you giving our visitors the wrong impression. What she did was a mistake that could have happened to anybody."
