CHAPTER 49

RUBY’S POV

I arrived at the bookshop and as always, it was busy and filled with people.

I walked in and took my time to walk around in search of Arnold but he wasn't there.

So I met with a worker of his, who was busy placing new books on a shelf and she smiled at me when I called for her attention.

“Hi, I'm Ruby Sinclair and a friend of the owner, Arnold Fusser. Did he perhaps come to work today?” I asked her, making sure to be careful with my choice of words and she nodded, that smile still on her face.

“Sure, he is around but in his office at the moment. Can you wait here while I call him for you?” the lady replied and I nodded eagerly, pleased that I found someone willing to help, and with that, she walked away.

I waited for a couple of minutes and soon, she returned to meet me where I waited for her.

“Mr. Arnold said you can see him in his office,” she told me and I smiled in relief on hearing that. Maybe he wasn't with his phone when I called. Maybe he was just busy an
