Chapter Fifty-Three

MACE'S POV

I had already scheduled my flight to leave for Singapore early the next morning, but I was too overwhelmed by the news Amorino broke that evening.

Something was amiss, but whatever it was, I'm kind of grateful it prompted her to quickly change her mind. I quickly turned on the ignition of the car and was rushing over to her place when my phone rang.

It was one of the guards stationed at Amorino's apartment. He reported the incident that occurred this evening to me.

"Fools," I blurted out immediately. I dropped the call. How could they be so incompetent that they can't catch the lunatic firing at them? Why they just couldn't catch that fool was far beyond my understanding.

"Damn!" I screamed, realizing that my Amorino might still be in danger. The more I thought I gave to it, the more grateful and depressing it became.

I am grateful that Amorino is moving in with me but depressed because I know she must be worked up at the sound of gunshots. I
